The Royal Melbourne Hospital is delighted to be partnering with Alumni on the search for a new Director of Nursing and Operations – Surgical Services.
Reporting to the General Manager of Surgical Services and with a professional line of accountability to the Chief Nursing Officer, this postholder will be a key member of the RMH leadership team responsible for contributing to the strategic development of the Royal Melbourne Hospital through the outstanding leadership of the professional nursing workforce within the surgical services program. The successful incumbent will also collaborate as a key member of the leadership team to support the organisation in achieving its broader strategic and operational priorities.
This is a significant director-level nursing leadership position within one of Melbourne’s most prestigious and complex academic hospitals.

The Director of Nursing and Operations roles are pivotal leadership positions within the RMH structure. As such we are seeking expressions of interest from high calibre, ambitious nursing leaders with experience in surgical services and a passion for delivering innovative high-quality healthcare who are also committed to the RMH values.

Minimum Requirements:
* Clinical or leadership experience in surgical services.
* Visionary and innovative, with exceptional leadership, strategic thinking and a commitment to improving the way services are delivered to patients and consumers, focusing on safe, timely, effective and person-centred care.
* Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and operational execution with a strong reputation as a collaborator with leaders and staff to achieve the organisations key priorities.
* Sound knowledge of the concepts and principles of quality management and evidence-based practice in a hospital/clinical environment with particular emphasis on systems improvement.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and an ability to apply these skills to a cross-section of internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven capacity to define and reconcile complex and competing priorities, together with the ability to identify and engage key stakeholders in addressing the same.
* Demonstrated capacity to facilitate organisational change and support and involve staff and consumers in planning and development initiatives.
* Strong negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills.
