We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Model Maker to join our dynamic team in a studio environment. This role involves high-end finishing, meticulous attention to detail, and advanced post-process clean-up of parts produced by internal departments and subcontractors.
As a senior member of the team, you will bring significant experience in modelmaking and paint spraying, setting a high standard for quality and precision. This role requires a proactive, problem-solving individual who can manage multiple projects, mentor junior team members, and take ownership of delivering top-tier results.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
1. Finishing and polishing of SLA, SLS, and CNC models to a high standard.
2. Applying professional-grade spray paint finishes.
3. Fettling and finishing of RIM mouldings, vacuum castings, and silicone castings.
4. Fabrication, jig making, and assembly.
5. Operating a variety of machinery and power tools.
6. Inspecting and ensuring parts meet exacting quality standards.
7. Participating in cross-training to develop skills in additional areas of the business.
8. Assisting in other departments when business needs arise.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Proven experience in modelmaking and high-end paint spraying.
2. Expertise in finishing processes, including sanding, polishing, and surface preparation.
3. Ability to self-manage projects and collaborate effectively within a team.
4. Strong planning and prioritisation skills for handling multiple workloads.
5. Commitment to meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
6. Problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of tooling and casting techniques.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
8. Willingness to work additional hours to meet deadlines when required.
9. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent use of power and hand tools. Some components may be large or heavy, requiring careful manual handling.
Work Environment:
The Senior Model Maker will primarily work in the model shop and spray booth, collaborating closely with team members to ensure the highest quality standards.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
