TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to companies active in the energy sector. In addition to a global, extensive and diverse energy data library, TGS offers specialized services such as advanced processing and analytics alongside cloud-based data applications and solutions. This internship opportunity within the TGS New Energy Solutions team will: • Be introduced to the offshore wind energy segment. • Gain experience of wind yield and wind resource assessment tools, especially floating lidars and offshore wind measurements. • Build an understanding of how measurement data from multiple sensors work together to build an understanding of offshore wind site conditions. • Develop an understanding of how data uncertainties contribute to renewable project financing and how to minimise these with formal data management techniques. • Build corporate relationships, understand how to analyse and communicate results to technical and non-technical peers. • Present results to TGS leadership team. Minimum Requirements include: • Meteorology or Data Science graduate or graduating 2025. • Familiarity with timeseries data. • Working with wind or metocean measurements. • Data-handling using Python. • Understanding of renewable energy/ wind energy. • Communicating with and presenting to project stakeholders. Preferred Skills and Attributes: • Knowledge of ZX or Windcube lidars, wave buoys or met mast anemometers. • Experience using European public domain data libraries, from for example The Crown Estate, BSH or RVO. • Experience with GCP or other cloud services. • Experience with ERA5 or other climate models. Key Program Information: • Students will participate in engaging activities and collaborate closely with a dedicated Mentor and Buddy for guidance and support throughout the program. • The program spans 12–14 weeks during the summer months, offering flexibility within that range. • This position is based in Weybridge, UK. • Students are required to arrange their own reliable transportation to and from the job site.
