About the role
Monocle has ambitious plans to expand our book production. As part of the books team, you will play a key role in the creation and production of some of the beautiful, high-quality publications that we are known for.
The assistant books editor role will suit candidates who are passionate about developing their publishing career. You will learn from and work alongside a passionate, talented team.
Responsibilities:
1. Project managing and delivering allocated titles under the supervision of the head of book publishing.
2. Researching new ideas.
3. Co-ordinating freelance contributors.
4. Working with other in-house departments, including art and production.
Minimum Requirements:
1. One to two years’ experience working in an editorial capacity in the illustrated book-publishing industry.
2. A passion for process, project co-ordination and producing the highest-quality products.
3. The ability to manage multiple work streams and stakeholders throughout the production cycle.
4. Attention to detail, initiative and a proactive approach.
5. Confident communication skills, with experience using InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Google Docs and Sheets.
6. A positive attitude and an ability to work as a team player.
