Role Overview
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Financial Controller leads the Finance team to undertake all aspects of financial management, both for the Ocasa business and importantly our customers. With a strong strategic plan in place, this role is key to ensuring we are fit for growth with strong financial controls and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the finance team to build a strong function which supports the operational business
* Active member of the Senior Management Team, gaining an understanding of the business operations to play a key role across the business
* Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
* Finalising, analysing and publishing timely monthly financial statements including meaningful variance analyses
* Maintaining strong performance in positional metrics such as cash collection and supplier payment days
* Preparation of regular detailed cashflow forecasts
* Preparing statutory accounts and leading the audit process with our external accountants/auditors
* Overseeing month-end and year-end close process in Yardi, our CRM system
* Ensuring control and transparency of the balance sheet through regular reconciliations
* Coordinating tax compliance with external tax accountants
* Preparation of VAT returns to submission and liaising with HMRC as required
* Review of payment runs and robust oversight of transactions
* Review and challenge business processes and accounting policies to maintain a focus on continuous improvement to strengthen financial control while enabling the business to operate efficiently
* Overseeing service charge budget preparation and billing to leaseholders
* Financial onboarding of new property assets
* Additional duties as would be expected of a Financial Controller, as necessary
Experience and Qualifications
* ACA or ACCA qualified
* Audit experience which will include relevant knowledge of applicable taxes including VAT and Corporation Tax as well as financial reporting
* People management experience; driving team performance and encouraging their learning and development
* Strong attention to detail and a keen awareness of control processes
* Exceptional communication skills, with experience in regularly engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to work in a start-up entrepreneurial environment with a hands-on team player approach

The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
