Brightwork's specialist client is currently recruiting a Controls/Instrumentation - Systems Engineer for their industrial plant.
Reporting to the Engineering Projects Leader, you will be responsible for the commissioning & validation, SCADA/software improvements, plant troubleshooting, improvement projects, and integration of plant operational procedures/SOPs.
The key purpose of the role will be to support the commissioning/validation of new process operations, support existing operational sites, technical troubleshooting of communications/SCADA/software issues, generation of plant documentation & risk assessments, optimisation of plant process parameters, deliver process improvement projects across the sites, and training and competence assessment of site staff.
This will be a site-based role; however, there will be travel to other sites in Scotland, and a full UK driving license will be required.
Responsibilities
1. Review and improvement of site control systems & networks.
2. Technical troubleshooting of site programming/comms issues, including out-of-hours support when required.
3. Integration of all operating procedures/risk assessments into new process operational sites.
4. Training of new and existing operational staff on new and existing sites with assessment of competence.
5. Process optimisation of plant parameters during verification and ongoing operations.
6. Analyse and assess operational activities to identify areas for improvement across the site and within the wider business.
7. Monitor process plant during commissioning/validation and take appropriate action to maintain safe production and undertake technical analysis as required.
8. Contribute appropriately to commissioning/operations meetings and support the implementation of plans and continuous improvements.
9. Work as part of the validation team on shift at new plants during the initial start-up phase, supporting operator training and competence assessment.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
1. A working knowledge of safe working practices and procedures.
2. Competence in electrical engineering/instrumentation and systems software.
3. Experience in plant operations.
4. Degree level qualification in engineering/controls & systems based discipline (desirable).
5. Knowledge of current health and safety/environmental compliance.
6. Experience in delivering process improvement projects.
