We are now recruiting for Criticality Safety Assessor to join us permanently on our major projects.
Purpose and Scope:
As the Criticality Safety Assessor you will be part of our major programme safety case team, providing nuclear criticality modelling and safety assessment.
Responsibilities:
As the Criticality Safety Assessor you responsibilities will included.
1. Undertaking criticality assessment, and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions.
2. Act in any criticality or equivalent role.
3. Support the Safety Case Manager.
4. Support wider EUP safety case and engineering leads when requested.
5. Assist the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence.
6. Advise Amentum and Client leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
7. Interfaces as necessary with suppliers.
8. Supports the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
9. Ideally hold a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education);
10. UK and International standards and practices, American Nuclear Society and ONR Technical Assessment Guides.
11. Nuclear criticality safety assessment and HAZAN production;
12. Experience of relevant code (MONK, MCNP etc.) application in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
13. Knowledge of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools;
14. Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting, Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
15. Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
16. Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Desirable:
17. Knowledge of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
18. Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
19. Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
20. Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
21. Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
22. Project management and project controls.
23. Stakeholder management.
24. Ability to mentor and coach.
Position will require ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
