About the opportunity
We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team. You will work with Soben at an exciting time, playing a key role in achieving our growth targets. Supporting a major construction client in the region, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement and commercial strategies across various projects.
What you'll do
* Prepare cost estimates and cost plans for review, including benchmarking.
* Develop value engineering and life cycle costing options.
* Identify potential risks and maintain the risk register.
* Contribute to meetings on pre-contract processes.
* Assist in preparing procurement strategies and reports.
* Attend client meetings with senior colleagues and record discussions and actions.
* Participate in design team meetings, advise on cost implications, and implement outcomes.
* Assist in lease negotiations and validate tenant improvement allowances.
* Develop project templates.
* Help manage change order logs, invoice logs, and cost reports.
* Research pricing and assist with measurements for development appraisals.
* Draft and review pre-qualification questionnaires and responses.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
About you
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
* At least two years of experience in cost estimating.
* Proficient in CostX software for estimates and bills.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of construction technologies and sustainability trends.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Organized and detail-oriented.
* Field experience is a plus.
