Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer
The Principal Mechanical Engineer’s main duties will include leading a team of Mechanical Engineers reporting to the Discipline Lead M&E, and acting as the MEP Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and/or Lead Engineer on MEP projects assigned by the Discipline Lead M&E. The role is responsible for the design delivery of Mechanical Design allocated to MEP Projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Involved in major projects within the engineering discipline, covering both rail and non-rail services.
2. Ensure projects meet client requirements, standards, and are completed within the agreed project timeline.
3. Ensure projects are completed within the budget.
4. Plan project works and provide resource forecasting to facilitate proper resource allocation.
5. Identify changes in client requirements and communicate these with the SYSTRA Project Management Team.
6. Provide monthly forecasts for project costs to the management team.
7. Ensure the training and development needs of the mechanical team are met to serve project requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Minimum HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience; Chartered status preferred.
* Extensive experience managing complex or non-standard design solutions.
* Knowledge of mechanical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure, including HVAC, Public Health, Building Physics, and BIM.
* Understanding of multi-disciplinary issues related to M&E and building services.
* Knowledge of construction principles and standards.
* Understanding of CSM/CDM regulations.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills for client interactions.
* Experience managing a team of Mechanical Engineers.
* Ability to maintain good relationships with external and internal stakeholders, promoting a 'One Team' ethos.
