It is an area of approximately 2000 square miles with Perth as the main centre and several market towns such as Kinross, Auchterarder, Crieff, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Blairgowrie all being 20-30 miles away. Perth and Kinross has approximately 153,800 residents of whom approximately 37419 are over the age of 65, and just over 17814 of whom are over the age of 75. Perth and Kinross has one of the largest populations of elderly people in Scotland and there is a mixture of all levels of socio-economic class and deprivation.
