The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join its Finance & Resources Board (F&RB). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic and financial oversight of a globally respected professional membership body, helping to improve healthcare for millions of patients.

With a diverse membership of over 40,000 across 130 countries, the RCP is dedicated to improving patient care, influencing health policy, and advancing medical education and leadership. Operating with an annual budget of £40 million, the RCP is headquartered in London and Liverpool, with regional offices.

About the Role:
As a member of the Finance & Resources Board, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial and operational strategy of the RCP. This includes ensuring robust financial governance, reviewing financial policies, and providing guidance on resource allocation to achieve the RCP’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Advising on financial planning and monitoring the RCP’s financial performance.
* Reviewing capital and revenue budgets and making recommendations to the Trustees.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements in financial reporting and management.
* Monitoring the RCP’s assets, including properties, investments, and historic collections.
* Evaluating risk management strategies and overseeing implementation.
We are seeking candidates with:
* Proven expertise in financial management and governance within complex organisations.
* Strategic insight and the ability to evaluate and advise on long-term financial plans.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
* A commitment to the RCP’s values of care, learning, and collaboration.
Commitment:
The F&RB meets quarterly, with additional ad-hoc engagements as required. Meetings are typically held virtually, and members serve an initial term of three years, renewable for another three years at the discretion of the Chair.
Remuneration:
This is a voluntary position. Expenses incurred while attending meetings will be reimbursed per RCP policy.
