Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for people with a "Can do Attitude" to join our bank portering team at Scunthorpe General Hospital who can work on positive Covid-19 areas. You will receive full training for the role of a porter.
The role of a porter can be demanding and requires flexibility to support us during periods of operational pressures. If you believe you have the physical agility to conduct patient, equipment, and material moves around the hospital site, and can demonstrate our values, Kindness, Courage, and Respect, we would like to hear from you.
Your role will involve working within a team to provide a high-quality Porter Service, offering a timely, responsive, and pro-active system for the movement of patients, materials, and equipment within the site, and undertaking a number of other specified support and ancillary tasks as required.
Main Duties of the Job
Your role will assist the service in providing an efficient, flexible, and customer-focused porter service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across all sites. This will provide a comprehensive, planned, and reactive Porter Service that is reliable, helpful, efficient, and responsive to the needs of patients, Trust staff, and visitors.
You will accept and undertake work allocated through the task management system using a handheld device, which will involve tasks such as patient movement, distribution, stores, furniture, equipment, pharmacy, meals, pathology items, blood products, waste, movement of deceased, confidential waste, post, and laundry around the hospital site as required.
There is a 6-8 week training period where you will be expected to be available to work Monday to Friday, various shift hours covering 24 hours. Following the training period and after working independently for a period of time, we would look to place you into a contracted position dependent on availability. We currently have a number of 22.5hr contracted positions available, with options for additional shifts.
