An exciting opportunity is available for Band 3 Clinical Support Workers at our Specialist Palliative Care Unit at Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Working as a member of an MDT, you will provide specialist palliative care for adults with life limiting illness and support to their families. If you are hardworking, compassionate and a great team player then we would like you to apply for this position to expand our valued team.

Main duties of the job
To assist the registered nurses in the organisation of nursing activities and in the smooth running on the ward. To participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team supporting and promoting the continuity of patient care.
A Clinical Support Worker is required to assist patient's with personal hygiene, urinary care, nutrition and take clinical measurements, such as blood pressure and observations. All information must be accurately documented on Trust systems, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
You will be joining an enthusiastic, supportive, and friendly Multi-Disciplinary Team. You will receive support and development through in-service training, regular appraisals, a personal development plan and clinical supervision.
This post involves internal rotation between day and night duties, full and part time posts are available.
About us
PBL has a 24 bedded in-patient unit, which has a combination of 16 consultant-led specialist palliative care beds and 8 nurse-led Continuing Health Care Fast Track beds. PBL's Specialist patients have complex needs that require input from our specialist multidisciplinary team. Patient's may require assessment and symptom control, treatment for acute reversible causes, psychological support or end of life care. Those patient's on the continuing health care pathway are likely to come to us for end of life care in the last days of life.

Main duties include:
1. To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse (RN) who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
2. To assist with patient hygiene (care of patients hair, teeth, etc.) and assist patients in the management of continence and bowel care.
3. To help patients to prepare for meals and assist feeding individual patients when required.
4. To undertake routine monitoring of blood pressure, glucose and record oxygen saturation levels. Any abnormal readings must be reported to the Registered Nurse.
5. To report to registered staff any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patients clinical condition.
6. To make patients welcome to the clinical area and participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff.
7. Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care
8. To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment, adhering to trust infection control procedures.
