Digital Signal Processing DSP Engineer | Gloucester | c£80K
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our team at our Gloucester site. This exciting role will involve working on advanced Research & Development (R&D), software-defined radio (SDR) systems, and payload development for a variety of Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes. As a DSP Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, applying your expertise to reverse engineer existing systems, develop new DSP algorithms, and design and integrate SDR platforms. You will also play a pivotal role in payload development and contribute to the continuous improvement of mission-critical technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
Reverse Engineering & Analysis – Hardware, software, and signals based reverse engineering of RF systems: identify vulnerabilities or areas for improvement.
Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Development – Develop and optimize SDR solutions using cutting-edge DSP techniques for various applications in communications and signal processing.
R&D and Algorithm Development – Design and develop new DSP algorithms to enhance the performance of SDR systems, focusing on signal detection, classification, and exploitation.
Payload Development – Contribute to the development of payloads for advanced communications systems, ensuring compatibility with both existing and future technologies.
Testing and Validation – Work closely with testing teams to validate and optimize system performance through laboratory testing, real-world experimentation, and field trials.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration – Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate DSP solutions into larger mission systems.Skills Required
Strong experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), including algorithm development and optimization.
Experience in reverse engineering RF systems and signal analysis.
Practical knowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) technologies and platforms.
Background in R&D for developing innovative solutions and cutting-edge algorithms.
Proficiency with Python, C/C++, and/or other programming languages used in DSP and SDR development.
Knowledge of signal modulation/demodulation techniques and digital communication protocols.
Experience with real-time testing and performance evaluation of RF systems.Desirable Skills
Experience with GnuRadio or similar SDR platforms.
FPGA/RFSOC development experience and proficiency in VHDL or Verilog
Familiarity with Linux environments, version control systems (e.g., GitLab), and collaborative development tools.
Experience with payload development for defence or covert communications systems.Salary and Benefits
