We are assisting a well-established, multi-service firm in the Midlands seeking a Family Paralegal for their newly opened Market Harborough office. In this role, you will work under a fee earner, confidently running a caseload from start to finish. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in Family law.
Responsibilities include:
o Manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, and domestic abuse cases.
o Conduct client consultations, take instructions, provide updates, and maintain case files.
o Draft legal documents such as divorce petitions, financial consent orders, witness statements, and child arrangement applications.
o Prepare and submit court applications, respond to court orders, and liaise with barristers and other legal professionals.
o Compile and manage court bundles, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
o Handle legal aid assessments and ensure compliance with AML, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
o Manage billing, invoicing, and financial documentation related to client matters.
o Liaise with courts, experts, and external agencies to obtain necessary documentation and negotiate settlements where applicable.
o Provide client care, offering clear legal guidance and support throughout proceedings.
o Maintain strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines and ensure efficient case progression.
What we need from you:
o Experience managing a caseload of family law matters.
o Strong knowledge of family law procedures, court applications, and relevant legislation.
o Experience preparing court bundles and liaising with barristers, experts, and third parties.
o Familiarity with legal aid applications and compliance with AML, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
o Excellent client care skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with clients in distressing situations.
o Strong organisational and time management skills, with proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office.
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
