We are looking for an experienced and passionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our inspiring Gloucester Helpline Team.
Rethink Mental Illness run a number of helpline services, which offer practical and emotional support and signposting to those experiencing severe mental illness, their carers and relatives.
Your role as a Mental Health Helpline Worker will be based on the Gloucestershire Mental Health Helpline – CandO (Connect and Offload). This role will be home based, working within a fixed four weekly rotational shift pattern. Each shift commences at 2pm and ends at 9pm and the Helpline is open 365 days per year. CandO is dedicated to delivering a high quality service that focuses on supporting anyone aged over 18 and living in Gloucestershire, with their mental health.
How you will make a difference:
As a Support Worker, you will offer people affected by mental illness the support and help they need to regain their confidence and get involved in everyday social and workplace activities. You will be working closely with service users to achieve their own personal goals and access all the support they need on their recovery journey.
Job Purpose
* I provide emotional support, information and signposting by telephone, text or webchat
* I ensure that each and every person I connect with on the Helpline is met with compassion and kindness
* I have respect for the trust service user’s place in me when I provide support for them
* I signpost service users to other appropriate services
* I follow local procedures to protect individuals from the risk of abuse and harm to self and others
* I ensure I am good communicator, both verbally and in writing
* I engage in active promotion of the service either online or by attending groups/organization meetings
* I record accurately and concisely on files
* I work as a team member, sharing information and supporting colleagues
* I respond to crisis in accordance to policies and procedure
* I report to Line Management any caller/staff issues
* I report to Line Manager and technical issues that may arise
* I act in accordance with Rethink Mental Illness’s Health and Safety policies will notify the manager promptly if there are any concerns
