Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire Border
Salary: £48,110.40 - £54,766.40 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
We are currently seeking an experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join a highly specialist residential and educational setting. This role supports students and young adults with a range of needs, including MLD, SLD, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and complex medical and sensory impairments.
In this position, you will manage a diverse caseload, providing individualised support for communication and swallowing needs. You’ll be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, conducting assessments, developing therapy programmes, and overseeing a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. This role requires a mix of clinical expertise, administration, and leadership, offering a rewarding opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and prioritize a caseload of students with communication, swallowing, and eating needs.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide individual therapy plans.
* Collaborate with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure effective communication support.
* Provide training to staff and family members on communication strategies.
* Line manage a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
* Registered with RCSLT and HCPC.
* Post-graduate dysphagia training and experience.
* Experience working with SEND, PMLD, ASD, and complex communication needs.
* Competence with AAC systems and dysphagia interventions.
