As a Design Engineer – Test Equipment you will be responsible for designing test equipment for John Crane’s high end gas seals technology whilst liaising with our international service centres. This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours. (hybrid) John Crane is an equal opportunity employer. Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to) To design, using CAD, and maintain technical drawings and data for testing equipment used on both John Crane Gas and Wet seals. To ensure designs are to correct standards regarding safety and design practices. To manage the movement of test equipment between John Crane Service centres and storage within the Slough site. Run reports to ensure test equipment is available for seals in order book / test plan. Support suppliers that use tooling designed or originally used by John Crane. Obtain quotes and off load work that cannot be manufactured in house to correct sub-contractor. Load parts that can be made into Slough machine shop. Supports operations with issues with test rigs and test equipment. Participates in CI events with regard to storage and process relating to test equipment. The Individual Studies in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Previous experience in a design engineering role, with good experience of2D & 3D CAD. Good knowledge of MS Office (incl. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); ideally some knowledge of creating / updating / maintaining databases. Experience / knowledge of rotating equipment and high-pressure test equipment – an asset. A resource-oriented person, with an innovative mind. Quick thinker with excellent problem-solving skills. Attention to detail.
