Role: CEO, PRCA
Reports to : Chair of the PRCA Management Board
Location: London with hybrid working, and involving international travel
Job Purpose:
The CEO is responsible for the day-to-day management of PRCA’s business, finances, resources and staff in accordance with the Association’s strategy and business plans. They will report to the Management Board and attend all its meetings, working with the members of the Board to develop the strategy and business plans. The CEO is accountable for the growth of the Association, both in terms of membership and associated incomes, and in terms of reputation as a highly effective Association for this industry. The CEO also supports the operations of the independent Standards Board who hold the regulatory responsibilities of the Association.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Development and delivery of the strategic plan for growth, including working with the Management Board to gain approval for the plan.
* Growth of the Association both in terms of membership and associated incomes, and in terms of reputation as a highly effective Association for the industry.
* Create and manage a balanced scorecard of KPIs for the management, governance and growth of the PRCA and the regular reporting of progress, strategic and operational, to the various sub-committees of Association.
* Provision of effective financial reporting and controls as defined and agreed by the Management Board and ensure all annual reporting requirements are met.
* Ensure good governance structures, internal controls and risk management arrangements are in place to protect the organisation as appropriate.
* Engagement with the broad range of members to understand their changing needs and the evolving environment in which the industry operates.
* Act as a spokesperson for the membership and industry, alongside the Association’s elected President and other Board Chairs.
* Lead the engagement with governmental, political and social institutions in the UK, and internationally where needed, to build the standing of the industry and influence the growth of a productive operating environment.
* Build and sustain a creative, innovative, collaborative and transparent organisational culture, with supporting organisational policies and procedures, where providing value to members is the key driver of focus.
* Ensure that diversity, inclusion and equity strategies and policies are embedded and effective.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience and understanding of the public relations and public affairs industry
* Prior senior leadership experience as a chief executive or executive director
* Proven experience of working in a membership organisation or trade association
* A proven record of developing and delivering strategy in conjunction with multiple stakeholders
* A demonstrable track record in delivering sustainable business change on an organisation wide basis in support of required outcomes
* Demonstrated ability to build consensus and relationships with governance bodies, employees, external stakeholders, and members/customers
* Proven ability to build and develop high performing teams and reset culture in support of sustained employee and stakeholder trust and engagement
* Proven experience of profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow management, and general finance and budgeting
* Experience of developing international markets

* Able to identify, interpret and evaluate complex information, enable difficult matters to be resolved and make informed and robust decisions as a consequence
* Proven negotiation skills
* People leadership skills, including development, management of performance and increasing engagement
Terms of Appointment/Remuneration
The role is based in London but requires travel around the UK and occasionally internationally. Attendance at evening events is also required.
* Financial package in the range £150K - £180K, including performance-related bonus
