If so, the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre is offering the opportunity to apply for a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse temporary 12 month post within the department to cover Secondment. This will enable existing staff to gain experience in a line management role whilst supporting the multi-professional team with day to day care provision. The aim of the role will be: To promote, assist & maintain the standards of professional practices in order to enhance the quality of care for patients with spinal cord injury. To assist in the effective ward management of the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre resources & services. To carry out the functions required to fulfil the goals & services of the ward / department. To participate in the Trust approach to Resource Management initiative. To ensure the ward is clean & provides a safe environment for patients & staff Excellent clinical knowledge and skills are required with high level of communication skills. Previous experience within the speciality is essential. This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adults and children disclosure). To assist the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse with effective day to day management of patient care whilst ensuring efficient staff line management. This will include daily staff allocation to ensure appropriate skill mix, completion of sickness absence reviews & staff appraisals, participation in clinical audits such as Tendable (Perfect Ward) & education & supervision of junior staff in order to develop a skilled workforce. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital is a 43-bedded in-patient & 8-bedded community-based facility with a catchment population of more than 6,000,000 covering the North West of England, North Wales and the Isle of Man. We specialise in rehabilitation for people with varying degrees of disability, ranging from those with high cervical lesions requiring mechanical ventilation to others with incomplete neurology & cauda equina injury. The clinical team encompasses a variety of different professions including nurses / health care assistants, physio / occupational therapists, speech & language therapist, counsellor & medics.
