What we are looking for:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, empathetic, and proactive People Manager to join our team. Forest is a close-knit, fast-paced, collaborative start-up where every team member plays a pivotal role in driving (cycling) our mission forward.
Reporting to our CFO, who oversees the People Team, you will be the go-to person for all HR matters within the business. You will collaborate closely with the Leadership Team to drive our People strategy and foster a strong company culture. Your role will involve supporting managers and offering expert advice on employee relations, policy development, and strategic initiatives.
You will lead a growing team of HR Business Partners and have the opportunity to focus on higher-level People management. This includes overseeing all aspects of People Operations, such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and culture initiatives.

Your key responsibilities include:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
* Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent, leading the HR team through the end-to-end recruitment process.
* Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand their needs and guide them through job role creation and interviewing candidates to find the right fit for their team
Performance Management
* Implement and manage performance review processes, focusing on a company-wide feedback strategy
* Provide guidance to managers on setting objectives, delivering feedback, and supporting employee development.
* Identify and address performance challenges effectively and empathetically.
Employee Engagement & Culture
* Champion initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
* We are a sociable bunch, help to execute employee engagement activities aligned with our company values and culture.
* Act as a trusted advisor and ear to employees, addressing concerns and fostering open communication.
HR Operations & Compliance
* Maintain and update HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
* Manage HR systems and employee records with accuracy and confidentiality.
* Oversee payroll and benefits administration in collaboration with the Finance team, updating salary bands and benefits structures as the company grows.
Learning & Career Development
* Identify training needs and design programs to support employee growth, promoting development opportunities across the organisation.
* Design career paths within the organisational structure, focusing on growth opportunities to help employees achieve their professional goals.
Who you are:
* Strong experience in a People/HR role (4+ years), ideally within a fast-paced startup environment, where you have been both strategic and hands-on.
* Confident in managing relationships with senior stakeholders, with the ability to navigate tricky conversations and address complex issues with tact and professionalism.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility quickly.
* Familiarity with HR processes such as policy development, employee relations, and reporting; while legal expertise is not essential, a solid understanding of compliance is a plus.
* Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented, with a proven ability to thrive in a rapidly changing work environment. You bring a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
* A genuine interest in sustainability, cycling, and technology.
