You won’t just be joining one business; you’ll be part of a group that can offer you variety and development for the whole of your career What’s the role: The drilling assistant/support operative is responsible, under the guidance and direction of the Lead Driller, for assisting in the preparation and loading of drilling and ancillary equipment Undertake daily basic maintenance and pre-check functions of equipment Assist as requested by the Lead Driller with all tooling and rod tripping operations Ensure all necessary equipment is clean, serviceable and readily available when required Careful handling of recovered samples including correct presentation and marking Maintain support vehicle(s) in a clean, safe condition by servicing in accordance with procedures and at designated frequency Maintain drill site, work area and equipment (including drill rig) in a clean hazard free state Communicate effectively with all colleagues including Clients in a professional manner at all times Contribute as a valued team member and demonstrate commitment to common goals and targets of the Company Assist in the recovery and presentation of core sample through safe, cost effective and professional practices in order that Client expectations are met or exceeded. The drilling assistant/support operative is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the duties and tasks outlined within the job description are undertaken in accordance with Company policies, procedures and practices Ensure that adequate duty of care is exercised in all aspects of the tasks and duties Ensure personal compliance with the health and safety regulations and any site-specific rules which may apply within varying site operations What you will need: Must hold a degree in hydrogeology, geology engineering or engineering project management, demonstrating a strong academic foundation in the field. Experience in NEC contract management is required, indicating familiarity with managing contracts within the construction or engineering sectors. A strong focus on safety is required, ensuring all tasks are carried out with the highest regard for health and safety regulations. Commercial awareness is important, as the candidate must consider the financial aspects of projects and contribute to cost-effective solutions. A clean driver’s license is required, ensuring they can travel to job sites when necessary. Project management qualification, along with drilling and management experience is desirable.
