Health And Safety Officer
The role:
Our client is currently recruiting an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join their expanding team in Shannon, Co. Clare. This role is crucial to the organisation and is ideally suited to someone with a background in fast-paced, multinational environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that health and safety standards are maintained in line with the company’s global operations.
Responsibilities:
* Policy Development & Implementation: Assist in the creation and execution of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in alignment with both current and emerging legislation, as well as industry best practices.
* Guidance and Consultation: Provide expert advice, information and guidance on health and safety matters to internal stakeholders. Support consultation processes, including coordination with Safety Committees and Safety Representatives.
* Health & Safety Culture: Act as an advocate for health and safety, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion throughout the organisation.
* Training & Development: Coordinate and deliver health and safety training sessions, including induction programs, updates on company procedures, and new legal requirements.
* Accident Prevention & Reporting: Compile detailed accident and investigation reports, while promoting accident prevention initiatives and supporting safety campaigns across Ohshima.
* Audits & Risk Assessments: Conduct regular audits and risk assessments across various work areas and systems, ensuring that corrective and preventative actions are monitored and implemented effectively.
* Emergency response: Oversee and coordinate emergency plans, including evacuation procedures and drills.
* Reporting & System Management: Prepare health and safety reports for senior management, and manage health and safety software systems to ensure effective document control, auditing, incident reporting, and more.
Requirements:
* Third-level qualification in Health & Safety or recognised safety qualification
* At least 2-3 years of on-site Safety Officer experience (experience in the manufacturing sector would be an advantage but not mandatory)
* Experience in risk assessment and a strong understanding of Irish and EU health and safety legal requirements
* Competent auditor and training experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in delivering training;
* A self-starter with a proven ability to work on their own initiative, with problem-solving skills and be innovative;
