Be part of the movement – and play your part About the role The individual is responsible for coordinating with the Terminal Operations Manager and other key stakeholders to efficiently manage delays, cancellations, and schedule changes for freight space charters. A key aspect of the role is optimising the allocation of freight vehicles to ensure maximum vessel capacity utilisation. They also oversee the preparation of the "voyage envelope" in line with MCA requirements and company policies. Additionally, the role includes maintaining strict confidentiality of freight-related data, monitoring the DFDS CCTV system, and supporting the Operations Supervisor by compiling and submitting accurate freight statistics to relevant stakeholders. You will be responsible for Oversee the stowage and documentation of hazardous freight, ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Monitor and maintain the accuracy of operational systems, including freight check-in data and shipping manifests. Coordinate with local authorities and ensure customs clearance compliance, and regulatory bodies to facilitate seamless freight operations. Prepare and compile the "voyage envelope," ensuring all freight-related documentation meets regulatory and company standards. Optimise vessel capacity by effectively managing freight allocations and ensuring maximum utilisation. Monitor KPI targets, conduct performance reviews, and oversee the management and development of freight operations staff to ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement About you To succeed as a Duty Operations Manager, the candidate must effectively manage capacity to optimise vessel utilisation, with full training provided. Proficiency in Seabook and Phoenix systems is essential for handling freight bookings. Knowledge of customer accounts and MCA requirements ensures accurate records and compliance with shipping manifests. A strong understanding of the IMDG code is crucial for safely managing hazardous cargo. You will play a critical role in setting and driving KPI targets, leading performance reviews, and managing team members to ensure operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across all freight operations. The ideal candidate for this role must be a strong leader capable of making quick, effective decisions under pressure while maintaining composure and focus in high-stakes situations. With experience in logistics, operations, or a fast-paced environment, they should possess a solid understanding of health and safety protocols. A proactive problem-solver, they will thrive on tackling challenges efficiently and managing shifting priorities during busy periods. Clear and confident communication is essential for liaising with teams, clients, and stakeholders effectively.
