Job Description
We are excited to be recruiting Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioners to join our Eating Disorder Pathway within Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD). This is an opportunity to be part of an innovative and supportive multi-disciplinary team providing specialist care to children and young people with eating disorders.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions to young people up to the age of 18. You will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and risk management while working closely with families and carers. Your role will include working in family therapy clinics, individual therapy sessions, and group interventions.
You will bring your expertise as a qualified mental health professional (RMN, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist), using your skills to adapt interventions to meet the needs of each young person. Collaboration with professionals across education, social care, and healthcare is key, ensuring a holistic and integrated approach to care.

Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist assessment and formulation for children and young people with eating disorders, ensuring timely and effective intervention.
* Deliver evidence-based treatments, in line with NICE guidance.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to case discussions and collaborative care planning.
* Liaise with professionals across education, health, and social care to ensure coordinated support.
* Provide risk assessment ensuring appropriate safeguarding and intervention plans.
* Support the development of junior staff and trainees, offering supervision and mentorship.
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement, helping to shape and enhance the pathway.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon. CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health.
Qualifications
* A professional mental health qualification e.g. RMN, Social Work Degree, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT, or equivalent.
* Active registration with the appropriate professional body e.g. NMC, HCPC.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* An understanding of the Mental Health Act/ Mental Health Capacity Act requirements.
* An understanding of child development.
* Understanding of child protection and the importance of multi-agency work for children and families in the community.
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with children/young people of all ages experiencing a wide range of mental health presentations.
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals from various settings.
* Able to produce well-written reports.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to manage own time and that of the teams.
* Computer literacy.
* Excellent clinical assessment skills.
Experience
* Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload and working with children/young people presenting with a range of complex mental health presentations.
* Working within a community CAMHS mental health setting.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
