West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Co-ordinator to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the needs of children and young people who are looked after are met with the highest standards of practice and professionalism. The Independent Reviewing Co-Ordinator will be responsible for overseeing and chairing reviews for looked after children and young people and ensuring that their care plans are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed. It is an expectation that staff would hold solid knowledge in the creation of children's plans and be proficient in the legislative processes that surround children who are looked after. This would include a working knowledge of the protocols for permanence and a significant understanding of all the legal procedures, including the Children's Hearing and Court processes. We are therefore seeking a creative thinker and leader who wants to support improvement in service delivery both with and for children underpinned by trauma informed, child centred values and approaches. We are looking for applicants who possess a range of skills within the childcare sector to enable us to establish a strong focus on better outcomes for our children. The successful applicant will hold considerable childcare knowledge and experience and it is expected that they provide strong leadership in the monitoring and development of child centred plans. You will have experience in the chairing and management of professional meetings and be proficient in dealing with conflicts that may arise while carrying out such a task. Further to this, the post holder will be expected to ensure quarterly reports are produced to provide oversight of performance and contribute to both service improvement and development of a learning culture. Of significant importance, is the applicant's ability to build relationships with all key stakeholders, operating as a pivotal member of the team around the child. You will hold an ability to maintain a focus on the child's best interests and will be a champion in ensuring that the voices of our children are listened to and that plans are reflective of their views. You will provide a point of quality assurance and accountability for those children that you work alongside and there will be an expectation that you maintain a professional overview of plans and provide strong leadership in making sure those plans created are fully realised. Requirements This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential.
