Opportunity for a Matron within Division of Theatres & Critical Care and Matron team providing nursing leadership, overseeing patient safety and driving quality improvement.
Division comprises numerous sub-specialities including Anaesthetics, Theatres, Critical Care, Endoscopy, Pain Management, Pre Assessment and Psychology.
Portfolio of services for role will be Surgical Admissions/Day Case unit, Investigation and Intervention Unit (IIU), Pre-Assessment, Pain Management and Psychology. Also providing mutual cross-cover and professional support for Matron, Clinical Lead and Manager colleagues in Theatres, Critical Care and Endoscopy.
We are looking for a forward-thinking and adaptable individual with a demonstrable aptitude for operational challenges, nursing leadership, quality and safety governance.
You will have an ability to drive change at pace and be able to demonstrate recent experience in having improved outcomes and experiences for patients.
Demonstrate proven ability to deliver projects to completion including change-management and cost reduction schemes.
Provide senior nurse support, promoting safe and high-quality services to patients via best practice. This will be through leadership and supervision, robust governance processes, support and development.
Will be a pro-active individual who can hit the ground running with a wide range of operational management issues and take immediate ownership of specified tasks and responsibilities within Team.
Main duties of the job
Matron is nursing lead and role model in the assurance of patient safety and care quality, enabling staff to exercise professional judgement within a framework of accountability and governance, advising the Divisional and Directorate managers and clinical leads of key professional operational issues and risks.
You will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in clinical areas to provide professional leadership.
Will work closely with Directorate Manager, Clinical Director, Matron and wider senior management team and support day-to-day operational management of Team including; Directorate's governance programme, operational priorities, transformation and projects as well as business performance.
Will support Team in delivering the Directorate's objectives, goals, strategies and measures in accordance with parameters set within the Trust.
You will need a proven track record of recent clinical nursing management at a senior level in an acute hospital environment.
You will be an ambassador for the Division and a role model for the inclusive and collaborative culture with an ability to engage teams and drive change effectively.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* First level NMC Registered Nurse (Adult) (RN Child for paediatric roles, RM for Midwifery).
* First Degree in relevant associated subject or evidence of being on Degree pathway [or equivalent relevant experience] and evidence of post-graduate training in relevant subject.
* Recognised management or leadership qualification or working toward.
* Holds relevant teaching and assessing qualification.
* ILM or other management training.
* Masters Degree or working towards in relevant associated subject.

* Competent in IT skills and ability to operate MS Windows programmes and Microsoft Office.
* Evidence of participating in clinical audit.
* Knowledge of NHS Policies and strategy.
