A pharmacy based in South Normanton are hoping to recruit an apprentice pharmacy assistant. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full-time employment and progress to higher level qualifications such as level 3 pharmacy technician. Duties will include checking off and unpacking orders, stock management, etc.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
We are looking for someone who has good communication, customer service and organisation skills. This is because you will be talking to a variety of patients who will each have individual needs, so these types of skills are very important. To help you thrive in a pharmacy setting, you should be punctual not only arriving to work but also meeting deadlines, a friendly personality, keen to progress, a caring team member, hardworking and have a willingness to learn.
Duties to include:
* Serving customers over the counter
* Dispensing medicine (after training)
* General admin
* Dealing with phone enquiries
* Use of the computer and the pharmacy-specific software
* Checking off and unpacking orders
* Stock management
* Date checking of stock
* Processing NHS prescriptions

Course contents
* receive and log prescriptions
* assemble prescribed items, undertake an in-process accuracy check and issue prescribed items
* work according to legislative requirements, and organisational policies
* order, receive, maintain and issue pharmaceutical stock
* provide appropriate advice when authorised on supplied medicines and products, their storage and disposal
* work within the parameters of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the pharmacy
* act in accordance with systems and organisational governance
* recognise and act within the pharmacy regulatory, legal and ethical standards
* support the team in the development of others
* maintain and further develop your own skills and knowledge through development activities; maintain evidence of your personal development and actively prepare for and participate in appraisal
* communicate effectively with the public, carers and other health and social care professionals using a range of techniques to determine their needs, and keep information confidential
* handle information (record, report and store information) related to individuals and/or patients in line with local and national policies

Your training plan
Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprenticeship standard, which includes:
* Level 1/2 functional skills in maths and English (if required)
* End-Point Assessment (EPA)
* In-house training provided by employer
* GPHC approved Dispensing and MCA qualification
* Training will be provided on a weekly basis

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
* English (grade 4/C or above.)
* Maths (grade 4/C or above.)
