This ‘Good’ Ofsted rated Skipton SEND school is looking for a full time 1:1 teaching assistant to join their friendly and vibrant team until the end of the academic year. This mainstream school are committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In this role, you will work closely with an autistic child in Year 5 that demonstrates some challenging behaviours and struggles with social interaction. You will assist the classroom teacher and other staff to ensure the child receives the extra care needed to aid their learning and development. Your responsibilities will include: • Providing one-to-one support to the pupil, both inside and outside the classroom. • Encouraging social skills development and promoting positive peer interactions. • Assisting with classroom activities, including academic lessons, sensory breaks, and structured play. • Collaborating with other members of the school staff, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists. Requirements: -Previous experience working with autistic children is essential. -Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are desirable but not essential. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. -A positive and proactive attitude, with a passion for supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs. -Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
