As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children with special educational needs to engage in learning, develop essential skills, and gain confidence. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to provide tailored support to students with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. Key Responsibilities: Support students with SEN in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals. Provide 1:1 or small group support to students in class. Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students. Promote positive behaviour and help to manage classroom behaviour effectively. Work closely with the teacher to assess student progress and adapt strategies as needed. Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and areas of need. Support students during break times, lunchtime, and other school activities. Skills and Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable. A good understanding of special educational needs and strategies to support students. Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing situations. A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, is desirable but not essential. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
