We are currently looking for experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for a leading logistics company that specializes in the next-day and same-day delivery of air and sea freight and the distribution of heavy, awkward, and dangerous consignments within the UK. My client is an established freight distributor with 3 decades of experience in the industry, looking for Class 1 drivers for either a day or night shift.
Job Title: Class 1 Drivers
Reports to: Depot / Operation Managers
Location: Glasgow
Role Summary:
Drive company vehicles in a safe manner and adhere to all relevant legislation and rules in relation to the loads being transported.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Doing deliveries and collections throughout the UK.
2. Loading and unloading in line with the company code of practice and using appropriate equipment.
3. Maintaining security of load while loading, transporting, and delivering.
4. Complying with various legislations regarding vehicle safety, tachograph operation, and Working Time Directive.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. C+E Licence requirement
2. Valid Driver
3. CPC card (DQC) essential
4. Digital tachograph card essential
5. Minimum 2 years of LGV vehicle driving experience and must be over 25 years old due to underwritten insurance
6. Good knowledge of EU Regulations and Working Time Directive
7. Geographical knowledge of major UK roads
8. Sound knowledge of Highway Code and speed limits for size of vehicle/type of road
9. Good working knowledge of manual loading/unloading and securing freight
10. Unacceptable endorsements: Drink or drugs related endorsements within the past 10 years, any disqualifications in the past 5 years, or any codes on licence with prefix: IN, CD, DD, DR, and BA
Working Hours:
Day Shift: Monday-Friday 8am – 6pm
£32,000 per annum + 1.25 Overtime + Benefits
Night Shift: 10/14 Flexible working days 8pm – 6am
£36,000 per annum + 1.25 Overtime + Benefits
