Quality Control Technician | Mitcham, Surrey | Full Time - 38 Hours per week | £26,000 per annum
Our client is a global supplier to the Composite & Coating Industry with 19 manufacturing sites and 5 technology centres in 12 countries. The company is one of the world’s largest suppliers of unsaturated polyester resins for composites and a leading supplier of coating resins for a wide variety of markets and applications
Due to continued success the company is seeking a Quality Control Technician. This position is responsible for quality control testing of raw materials and finished goods to final product specifications, and preparation of COA’s. In support of the ISO program, the QC technician performs instrument and solution calibrations and maintains calibration, product and raw material quality records.
The lab technician participates in the manufacturing process and makes timely entries of quality data into SAP, ensuring minimal interruption in processing flow. The QC technician is a member of a team that works rotating schedules that cover the plant 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, with overtime if the week's actual working hours are more than 38 hours. The lab technician is knowledgeable about the properties and hazards of the chemicals, products, and test methods they perform and keeps the lab clean and orderly to maximize safety. A firm commitment to safety, the environment and quality for customers is critical.

Are you the right person for the job?
* Degree level education preferred, but relevant experience working in the chemical manufacturing industry will be taken into account
* Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage
* Good laboratory technique (accurate preparation and testing of all samples, accurate and complete recording of all data, neat work habits and organisational abilities)
* Problem solving skills, good basic math skills, and an ability to “shift gears” in the face of changing priorities
* Math skills, including college algebra and statistics
* Good workplace skills developed in 3 years of successful work experience
* Be flexible to work on a rota
* Live within a commutable distance
What will your role look like?
* Test all batches produced in accordance with the Inspection Plan and standard test methods
* Test incoming bulk raw materials prior to offloading
* Report all results to relevant production personnel in a timely manner
* Entry of results into SAP
* Retest samples as required to support customer complaints and the use of aging stock
* Preparation of COAs
* Housekeeping of the laboratory
