An Ofsted-rated GOOD primary school in Bristol is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join their team on a permanent basis starting in January 2025. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
* Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure appropriate strategies and interventions are in place.
* Oversee the creation and implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Provide training and guidance to staff on SEN best practices.
* Liaise with parents, ensuring they are fully involved in their child's learning journey.
* Monitor and track the progress of SEND pupils, making adjustments as necessary.
* Ensure the school is compliant with SEND legislation and maintain excellent standards of care and support for pupils with additional needs.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* National Award for SEN Coordination (or be willing to complete it within three years of appointment).
* Proven experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting.
* A deep understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* A passion for inclusive education and a commitment to providing high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience in a SENCO role or similar leadership position.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
* The ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals.
* A creative and proactive approach to SEN provision.
