With over 150 staff operating from 4 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability of the NZ pig industry, through continual investment, innovative processing and products that provide fresh, high-quality NZ pork products to New Zealanders and their animals.
Our Timaru production facility is New Zealand’s largest pork specialist abattoir and butchery operation. Our dedicated team of over 65 staff process around 4,000 pigs per week.
We are looking for a Meat Production Assistant to join our Slaughter Team and assist with our pet food operations. As part of our production crew, you will also complete a range of manual handling tasks that support daily slaughter operations and set up.
To be successful in this role you will:
* Have a high attention to detail as recovery tasks are very specific
* Have a good attitude and be reliable
* Be flexible to respond to production requirements
* Need physical stamina and strength due to the physicality of the job as well as a gentle touch due to the delicacy of the products.
Rostered 4 days a week, Monday to Friday, starting from 4:30am for set up (worked on rotation) or around 6am to finish. We typically work an 8-10 hour day. Finish times vary depending on production and processing times.
