Job Title: Lead Planner Location : Hybrid – Peterborough (with flexible working options) About the Role: Are you ready to drive meaningful change on major infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is looking for an experienced AMP8 Lead Planner to join our Integrated Delivery Team. In this critical role, you’ll shape the future of water infrastructure across our AMP8 projects, creating and integrating project schedules to ensure seamless delivery across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. As Lead Planner, you’ll report directly to the SPA Head of Programme Controls and be responsible for setting up, managing, and enhancing our project schedules. You’ll develop a strategic overview of the programme, identify opportunities and risks, and ensure our projects align with the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Working alongside a dedicated team, you’ll also engage with cross-functional experts to streamline project performance and impact. Key Responsibilities: Recruit and lead the AMP8 scheduling team, supporting their development, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Develop and maintain high-quality schedules in line with project scope and programme outcomes. Oversee schedule change management, critical path analysis, and the integration of multiple large-scale projects. Support the establishment of robust and integrated PMO systems, processes, and procedures to support the AMP8 SPA works across the programme and supply chain. Provide insightful schedule reporting and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project controls. Act as a central point of communication across teams, reporting risks, earned value, cost, and change management updates. About You: To excel in this role, you’ll need: Extensive experience in schedule management for large-scale civil engineering projects (8 years in water infrastructure preferred). Proficiency in Primavera P6, with strong critical path tracing and analytical skills. Demonstrated success in leading multi-project integration and collaborating within a multidisciplinary, alliance-driven framework. Deep understanding of Project Controls within Major Infrastructure Programmes, including the interrelationships between Risk, Cost, Earned Value, Reporting and Change Management. Strong knowledge of schedule best practice including the processes and procedures required to execute a strong, effective management framework. A proactive, strategic mindset and excellent communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and negotiate effectively. Experience of maintaining performance and contractual baselines, producing critical path analysis on fully resourced and cost loaded project plans, monitoring changes, and reporting on early warnings and variations. Develop and deliver initiatives to improve the integrated schedule process. Extensive experience of schedule reporting Experience of establishing Work Breakdown Structures Experience of QSRA Scheduling/Reporting experience within NEC contract framework. Strong leadership skills with experience in leading teams and advising senior colleagues to enable delivery of our business goals. Why Join Us?
