Behaviour Support Assistant
* Location: Chorley, Lancashire
* Type: Secondary Alternative Provision
* Positions Available: 2x Behaviour Assistants
* Salary: £12.90 - £13.50
An headteacher of an alternative primary & secondary provision is looking for two behaviour support assistants, one on a full-time basis. The provision caters for children with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and therefore has struggled to maintain an education within a mainstream provision. The class sizes are considerably smaller, resulting in a holistic approach and support in terms of emotional development.
Work Duties
The role of a behaviour support assistant is to contribute positively to children overcoming their barriers to learning by implementing positive reinforcement and strong structure and boundaries. Many of the pupils have previously had negative experiences of school and feelings of failure and frustration; therefore, it will be vital to develop their social skills and raise their aspirations. Responsibilities include encouraging assigned pupils with Behaviour, Emotional, and Social needs to participate and actively engage in activities led by teachers, delivering and monitoring short-term interventions on behalf of disengaged and disaffected learners, and adopting a positive, upbeat attitude to maintain positive relationships with the children.
Person Specification
* Good co-operative, interpersonal, and listening skills.
* Excellent role model.
* A positive, warm, and approachable personality.
* Reflective, resilient practice.
