Company: Finning (UK) Ltd Number of Openings: 2 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: As a Workshop Engineer you will be working on Perkins high performance diesel engines, covering a product range widely used in numerous industries whilst having the opportunity to learn and develop your skills. DiPerk Power Solutions are the only authorised OEM distributor for Perkins in the UK and Ireland, providing support for complex or minor repairs and regular interval servicing across multiple sectors including Electrical Power Generation, Construction, Agriculture, Rail and Marine amongst others. Job Description: You will need to have in depth knowledge of diesel-powered engines or generators and the ability to carry out mechanical or electrical repairs to large machinery in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner, utilising a combination of the most up to date dealer software and traditional repair techniques. Overview Of Responsibilities Complete all health and safety pre-work documentation and liaise with the customer service team to provide the very best customer experience. Carry out the safe in-depth repair of earth moving equipment, attachments and components. Identify any parts required and clearly communicate to the customer and service control team and execute the repair plan to the highest possible standards. Keep the workshop and work area in a clean and orderly condition while working to CAT contamination control guidelines and keeping yourself and colleagues safe. Working hours The contracted hours for this position are 40 hours per week however, to support our valued customers it may be required to work some additional hours including evenings or weekends, this will be paid in accordance with our overtime rates. There may also be a requirement to travel to other Finning branches What To Expect You will work within the workshop either alone or in small teams, which is job dependent You will be issued a phone, laptop (with main dealer standard diagnostic software) and a range of specialist test tooling will be available from the tool stores. You will be expected to have your own hand tools. It is expected of you to travel to and from work by your own arrangements. Due to the large product range there will be new challenges and experiences on a regular basis. Qualifications Qualifications ranging from NVQ, City and guilds or similar in Land based Engineering / Plant fitting, LGV/HGV, or mechanical engineering, with demonstratable skills and experience working with plant or heavy vehicles will be considered. Formally apprentice trained preferred. Personal Skills Knowledge And Experience You must be self-motivated, adaptable, and have strong planning and organisational skills. You must have effective problem solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of good workshop practices, use of overhead cranes, specialist tools and test equipment. Knowledge using diagnostic tools such as Perkins EST, CAT ET or similar Current working knowledge of earth moving equipment.
