We have an exciting opportunity for a Grade 3 Healthcare Support Worker or a candidate willing to work towards a Grade 3, to join our team in Devizes, for 20 hours and 30 minutes a week.
Please note we are unable to offer overseas sponsorship for this role.
Here at Wiltshire Health and Care, we are very excited to announce the development and expansion of our community services in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and strategic priorities for community health services to transform our “out of hospital” care. We are boosting the response capacity within existing community teams to provide dedicated resources across Wiltshire.
This growth includes a 2-hour crisis response element to our community services, supporting current services across 12 hours (08:00 to 20:00) 7 days a week. We are also extending our services to provide 24/7 nursing cover in the community through an overnight service from 20:15 to 07:45.
Role Overview
If you love working in a community setting and seek a new challenge, we are looking for Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers to support our community nursing services. Working with an experienced team, you will support registered nurses, providing high-quality, safe, and sustainable care in patients’ homes and community settings, helping prevent hospital admissions and responding to unplanned referrals.
Main Responsibilities
1. Implement treatment plans as directed.
2. Ensure patient-centered care and involve patients and carers in decision-making.
3. Support daily care and monitoring of delegated patients.
4. Deliver care within community settings following written care plans, under supervision.
5. Support efforts to avoid hospital admissions and reduce inpatient stays.
6. Manage day-to-day patient care, including medication support under qualified supervision.
7. Maintain infection control standards.
8. Support patient independence and terminally ill patients and their families.
9. Communicate effectively with patients, overcoming difficulties as needed.
10. Document needs and wishes of individuals.
11. Work within a multidisciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks.
12. Assist registered and junior staff as needed.
13. Practice according to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
14. Obtain consent for treatments.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Good general education.
2. NVQ Level 3 in healthcare or willingness to achieve.
3. Experience working under supervision and supporting colleagues.
4. Team player with patient-focused care skills.
5. Ability to recognize own limitations.
6. Typing and data entry skills.
7. Physical ability to handle patients and use lifting aids.
8. Willingness to undertake specific nursing/therapy skills.
9. Valid full driving license and use of a car during work hours.
10. Flexible to work in other areas as required.
11. Motivated, self-driven, and good time management.
12. Willing to undertake Food Hygiene certification if not already held.
