Long-Term Teachers are delighted to be working with a well-regarded specialist secondary school in the heart of Street, Somerset, in their search for a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join their vibrant team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This small, community-focused special school caters for up to 60 pupils aged 11 - 16, all of whom have Education, Health and Care PLans (EHCPs). With a strong focus on personal growth, independence and preparation for adult life, this is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a tangible difference in a nurturing forward-thinking environment.
About the Role:
As a member of this collaborative and supportive team, you will:
* Plan and deliver engaging and meaningful lessons aligned with the Preparing for Adulthood framework
* Tailor learning experiences to meet a wide range of needs, including sensory, social and communication differences
* Use creative, hands-on and practical teaching methods to bring learning to life
* Help students develop essential life and work skills, including participation in work experience programmes
* Work in partnership with families, external professionals and local education providers to support consistency and progress
* Make full use of the school’s specialist facilities, including sensory spaces, soft play areas and therapy rooms

We are looking for a qualified teacher who:
* Has experiecne working with students with SEND, ideally in a special school or inclusive mainstream setting
* Embraces a person-centred, flexible and nurturing approach to teaching
Can differentiate learning effectively and create a positive, inclusive classroom culture
Is passionate about helping young people prepare for their next steps - whether that’s further education, employment or supported living
* Enjoys working collaboratively across a multi-agency network
