We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Maths Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision / PRU in Thurrock. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role provides an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on students who require a more personalised and engaging approach to learning.
As a Maths Teacher in this provision, you will deliver high-quality lessons tailored to the individual needs of students, ensuring that learning is accessible, engaging, and relevant. You will play a key role in building students’ confidence in numeracy, fostering a positive relationship with mathematics, and supporting their progression towards key qualifications.
This role is ideal for an experienced educator or a teacher looking to develop their career in an Alternative Provision setting. While experience in PRUs or with students with additional needs is desirable, it is not essential, as professional development opportunities will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
2. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student confidence and success.
3. Develop personalised learning strategies to help students progress in numeracy and problem-solving.
4. Work closely with colleagues and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
5. Assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching methods where necessary.
6. Implement positive behaviour management strategies to maintain engagement and motivation.
7. Uphold safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
2. Strong knowledge of the Maths curriculum and an ability to differentiate lessons for diverse learners.
3. Experience working in an Alternative Provision, PRU, or with students who require additional support is desirable but not essential.
4. Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
5. A passion for helping students achieve their full potential through a personalised and inclusive approach.
6. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
