Job Description:
Role Purpose:
Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood. To help us achieve this, the role will assist with the provision of direct support to children, young people and families to achieve positive and agreed outcomes, in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you’ll be responsible and accountable for:
1. Providing individually or as part of a team, practical quality care, support interventions and a range of activities and experiences for children, young people and families, as advised and in line with agreed plans.
2. Undertaking home or site visits/meetings as advised.
3. Maintaining effective communication and liaison with children, young people, families, colleagues and external agencies to ensure good working relationships.
4. Being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and informing appropriate line managers about concerns in line with our safeguarding policies and procedures.
5. Attending and participating in relevant multi-agency meetings.
6. Organising the achievement of work objectives on a daily basis, including both pre and forward planning.
7. Completing relevant forms and using appropriate procedures and IT systems to ensure accurate and contemporaneous recording and retention of information.
8. Undertaking administrative tasks as needed to maintain provision of the service.
9. Ensuring familiarity with relevant Action for Children policies and procedures.
Skills, knowledge and experience:
1. Experience of working and/or volunteering with children, families, and/or communities.
2. An understanding of the importance of keeping children and young people as the focus of all work.
3. An understanding of child development.
4. An understanding of the importance of working with/alongside other agencies.
5. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Ability to retain concise and clear notes for recording purposes.
7. An understanding of safety and willingness to enhance learning and to report matters in accordance with agreed procedures.
8. Ability to remain calm, demonstrating tact and understanding and Action for Children’s values and behaviours.
9. Demonstrable organisational skills with regard to planning your own work and delivery of required tasks.
10. Ability to engage with children and their families and to be respectful of professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality.
11. An ability to contribute, identify to the assessment, evaluation and planning of aspects of delivering services.
12. Ability to use Microsoft Outlook packages and IT systems.
