My client is a precision manufacturing business, based in Birmingham, specialising in machining and assembly of high value low volume components. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for the inspection approval of all incoming products from both internal and external sources.
The Quality Inspector will be required to provide a fully comprehensive and proactive approach to their role and have a detailed understanding of engineering drawings and standard inspection techniques. They will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and a can-do individual who can support and coordinate various departmental requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Inspect all incoming products to confirm conformance to drawing and specifications.
2. Inspect products using standard gauging and inspection techniques.
3. Review all incoming products to ensure suppliers have fully complied with the purchase order, drawing, and specification requirements.
4. Review associated paperwork to products to ensure full traceability of processes.
5. Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative to achieve required deadlines.
6. Assist in the delivery of key activities and projects as required.
7. Produce and log data to supply reports and analysis of quality certification and documentation as and when required.
8. Demonstrate outstanding organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
9. Ability to work pre-emptively and think ahead at all times with multiple solutions to hand for any given scenario.
10. Work to very tight and constantly changing deadlines with absolute discretion.
11. Provide backup to the quality team covering holiday leave and/or supporting overflow activities as deemed appropriate by the Quality Control Manager.
12. Keep accurate and up-to-date data ensuring that it is maintained in relation to Quality Administration/Certification.
13. Ensure that any discrepancies with certification or product are highlighted, investigated, and resolved prior to release.
14. Raise any concerns or barriers when reviewing certification/documentation that may delay products being booked to stores or released to manufacture.
15. Support the quality team in relation to the procedures for ISO 9001 and 14001.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications
1. At least 4 years relevant experience in standard gauging inspection using Callipers, Micrometres, thread gauges, height gauges, etc.
Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications
1. CMM capability with MCOSMOS software would be advantageous but not essential.
