Job Summary
NHSBT is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Accounting and Control Team on a permanent basis. This vacancy aims to attract applications from enthusiastic individuals with technical ability and excellent analytical skills. You will possess or working towards a recognised accountancy qualification e.g. part qualified AAT, NVQ level 4 or above.
You’ll join a successful and well-respected team with talented individuals. Finance currently receives excellent reports from both internal and external auditors with very few issues being identified. We want to maintain this and keep getting better. The challenge is to maintain this level of control whilst continuously improving efficiency and customer service.

Main duties of the job
In this role, your day to day responsibilities will include:
* Extracting, analysing and producing accurate financial accounting data on time to ensure compliance with reporting timetables.
* Providing support to the Financial Accounting and Control Team in the provision of timely, accurate and complete information to support operational decision making and financial reporting income collection.
* Ensure the reconciliation of all uploaded files (e.g. Oracle journals) to source information and investigating any discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Deal with customer queries supported by the Corporate Financial Accountant.
* Assisting with the production of year-end working papers to support the control accounts reconciliations.
* Supporting the introduction of new working practices and new technologies.
* Supporting the Financial Accounting and Control Team in duties such as:
* Balance Sheet reconciliations
* VAT records and reports
* Stock usage calculations
* Cashbook
* Staff numbers, costs and associated reporting
* Building records in advance of year-end
About You
Experience and Knowledge
* Good knowledge of financial systems and database reporting tools.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems.
* Experience of working with Oracle Financials (or equivalent system), use of relational databases and associated reporting tools.
* Developing knowledge of accounting standards, finance legislation and governance issues.
* Financial Management experience of working in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation (preferably NHS) is required
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to A level or equivalent relevant experience.
* Possess or working towards a recognised accountancy qualification e.g. part qualified AAT, NVQ level 4 or above.
* Progressing Professional Accounting qualification
* Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
