Lead Electrical Site Engineer
Location: Garelochhead
Rate: £35-45 per hour negotiable dependent on experience
Contract: 2-year contract
S & D Trade Recruitment are delighted to be exclusively partnered with an MOD contractor who is responsible for the installation of a brand-new electrical installation of a logistics site.
The purpose of the Lead Site Engineer is to facilitate and oversee the removal and installation of a client’s company assets. The role will involve electrical and mechanical pre-commissioning, commissioning, and final handover to the client.
Main Duties
1. Work as a lead fitter / electrician on the customer site in the removal, installation, and commissioning of all equipment and devices.
2. Be involved with Mechanical and Electrical fit-out and cabling to provide services to assets in line with drawings and 18th edition regulations.
3. Testing of all circuits in line with drawings and 18th edition regulations.
4. Facilitate asset location and positioning in line with drawings.
5. Responsible for overseeing packing and preservation of assets following removal and monitoring unloading and unpacking and handover at the final destination.
6. Lead and assist in planning and directing site activities under your control and working within budgeted hours and key milestone dates.
7. Coordinate with Projects and Planning departments to ensure all materials required are ordered.
8. Interpret drawings & Bills of Material to provide clear instructions to your team.
9. Act as a Lead on commissioning and pre-commissioning activities including FAT with the client representative.
10. Plan and co-ordinate site activities in liaison with Project Management and Design departments.
11. Provide leadership, motivate, and support your team members to enable work targets to be successfully achieved.
12. Assist with project progress reviews and provide the necessary information relating to job performance and targets.
13. Attend to job-related personnel issues including providing technical guidance and job training where appropriate.
14. Utilise your skills and experience to guide and direct your team members in the most appropriate fitting processes.
15. Provide customer contact and ensure all aspects of site co-ordination are dealt with to the satisfaction of the customer.
16. Ensure good site discipline is maintained and team members adhere to health & Safety and the customer’s site rules.
17. Ensure that your team keeps the working environment clean and safe.
18. Ensure the standard of workmanship and quality is consistent throughout the whole project by all team members.
19. Ensure that the necessary tools have been ordered to meet the requirements of the job.
20. Post-installation activities must be attended to including the return of spare material, tools, and Client drawings.
General
1. Devote the necessary time and attention to satisfactorily undertake the duties of Lead Site Engineer.
2. Ensure any staff under your control are adequately supervised and kept fully aware of the Company's objectives, policy decisions, and procedures.
3. Work in accordance with the Company's Health and Safety Policy and Statutory Regulation.
4. Ensure all work is in accordance with the Company Quality Assurance System and Company Procedures.
5. Undertake any other duties as identified from time to time by your supervisor.

Skills and Experience
1. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
2. Previous experience of site management and overseeing a team.
3. Ability to pass on your experience and develop other team members.
4. Ability to problem solve and work from verbal instructions.
5. Ability to work to tight tolerances.
6. Previous experience in a commercial environment or installation experience.
7. Time-served fitter with a solid mechanical or electrical engineering background.
8. Experience in using hand tools and all mechanical tooling, drills, taps, hand routers, woodworking machines, etc.
9. Experience of fault finding and resolution of issues where applicable.
10. Mechanical knowledge on cable trays and ladder racks installation.
11. Good understanding of Solidworks, Autocad GA, schematic drawings, and P&ID’s.
12. Previous experience in an industrial/commercial environment being based on a client site.
13. Electrical only - Previous experience with industrial wiring installation and control wiring / industrial style cabling. Mechanical only - Previous experience with mechanical fitting in conjunction with electrical installation and/or installation experience.
Qualifications
1. Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or experience to equivalent depth.
2. Completed a city and guilds qualification or equivalent.
3. Electrical only - 18th Edition trained.
