The Converged Core network is at the heart of BT and supports everything we do. The network underpins major infrastructure, such as the emergency services network and national air traffic services.
With a strong background in TCP/IP, the Environment Specialist has a good technical understanding of the respective platforms/services consuming the Gemini Environment Models (IP Core, Connectivity, Mobile, Access, Global, IPP). As a subject matter expert, they offer consultancy support and technical guidance to ensure the smooth delivery and implementation of all Model build work.
What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities
1. Accountable for the implementation of Network Infrastructure including evaluating, understanding, and scoping the network to be implemented.
2. Liaison for the Model Implementation team to ensure all build work is understood from a technical perspective.
3. Works with the Environment Architect, providing support and input into the Environment and Model Strategy.
4. Provides technical consultancy for teams looking to transition models/labs into Gemini.
5. Responsible for ensuring all Environment Models are built and configured according to organizational guidelines and technical requirements.
6. Participates in technology lifecycle planning, including contributing to the development of Model technology roadmaps.
7. Provides technical guidance to support Gemini Room/Model consolidation.
8. Acts as a technical mentor to the wider team.
9. Champions, continuously develops, and shares knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Network Engineering.
10. Provides technical quality assurance over work of other engineers.
11. Delivers resolutions to complex, cross-domain problems that impact the business.
12. Financial awareness of Platform vs Project spend and demand.
The skills you’ll need to succeed

7. Certified deep technical knowledge of network and server infrastructure.
8. Vendor accredited within TCP/IP Networks – e.g. CCNA/CCNP/NRS1/JNCIA.
9. Member of a professional body e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Experience you’d be expected to have
1. Strong technical experience working on IP Networks.
2. Vendor accredited within TCP/IP Networks – CCNA/CCNP/NRS1/JNCIA.
3. Experience collaborating with teams from other business locations.
4. Appreciation of Network Testing Toolsets and vendor offerings.
5. Participation in strategy setting sessions.
6. Influencing a technical team to improve effectiveness.
