Job Summary: Kiwa UK is seeking a Senior Structures Technician to join their team in Derby. This site-based role involves inspection, sampling, and testing of construction materials and structures, including barriers, reinforced concrete, and anchor points, ensuring safety and compliance. About the role:
1. Conduct in situ diamond drilling for concrete and bituminous cores, as well as sampling and testing of reinforced concrete structures.
2. Inspect and test barriers, handrails at sports stadia, and perform load/pull-off testing of bolts and anchor points.
3. Act as the lead contact for clients, colleagues, and subcontractors for relevant projects.
4. Maintain competency and authorisation for a range of test procedures, ensuring work is carried out to high-quality standards and in compliance with documented processes.
5. Ensure all test equipment is calibrated, functioning correctly, and subject to regular checks, reporting any defects as needed.
6. Use and maintain equipment and company vehicles responsibly.
7. Accurately record test results, QC data, and other required information following current procedures.
8. Prepare reports, test site documentation, and RAMS in accordance with Kiwa Health and Safety systems.
9. Communicate effectively between on-site operations and office teams.
10. Maintain good site working practice at all times.
Do you have what it takes?
1. Full UK driving licence, as you will be using company vehicles to travel to and from sites.
2. Experience in a similar or cross-over role.
3. Familiarity with concrete structure sampling, testing techniques, and barrier testing.
4. Understanding of Quality Policy/procedures, equipment calibration, and audit systems.
5. Knowledge of Health & Safety policies, including RAMS, PPE, and incident reporting.
6. Communicate effectively and work well both independently and as part of a team.
7. Possess a good level of practical and IT skills.
8. Willing to work away from home for short periods (Occasional overnight and possible weekend work applies to this role).
What can you expect from us in return?
1. £29,000 - £33,000 per annum
