About the role At DS Smith we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team at our Business Service Centre in Caerphilly. This is a great opportunity to learn the end-to-end role of accountancy and we'll also provide funding support for your accountancy qualifications. If you're ambitious, we'll give you the right development to progress into more senior accountancy roles in the future. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of a World Class accounting service to respective UK businesses and in accordance with service level agreements, perform general accounting and reporting activities. The position will require an understanding of our business process at each site and interaction with the Procure to Pay and Credit & Collections departments within the Shared Services Centre, so that month end processes are fully supported. The main duties of the role will include but not be limited to the following: Providing appropriate and timely financial reports covering various metrics as required by site management, including monthly management accounts and variance analysis Supporting Group and Divisional tax reporting requirements including VAT and PSA Providing routine and ad-hoc analysis as requested by site operations, Finance Business Partners, Division and Group Finance Reconciling of intercompany transactions Supporting the wider business with expenses, travel and purchasing card queries Processing of standard and non-standard journals Ensuring that all general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basis working alongside Accountant Ensuring activities are completed on timely basis to meet reporting deadlines About you Minimum requirements: IT literate including MS office suite and in particular Excel Finance or Accountancy degree Experience working as part of a team with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues Proactive and willing to offer solutions to challenges Preferred requirements: Previous experience of providing accounting or reporting services Experience of using SAP or similar ERP system Experience of Operational/Manufacturing reporting Benefits Competitive salary Discretionary bonus 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension scheme, life assurance and income protection Employee Assistance Programme Employee Discounts Cycle to work scheme Location : Caerphilly – we operate a hybrid working model
