Duke Medical Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, hard working candidate to join our friendly Reception Team.
The candidate must have had some experience working on a reception, preferably a medical reception and have good knowledge working with telephone and computer systems including communication systems such as 'Teams'. Previous clinical computer system knowledge would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be fully trained.
Main duties of the job
Administration (in Brief - see Job description for further information).
* Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
* Have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
* Scanning correspondence into clinical medical records.
* Dealing with prescriptions requests.
* Photocopy as requested.
* Opening incoming mail/emails.
Reception
* Receiving patients and arriving on the computer system for appointments.
* Deal with patient queries.
* Consulting with members of the practice team.
* Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.
Appointments
* Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with visit requests.
Computer
* Ensure registration paperwork is filled in correctly and arrange new patient medical with Health Care Assistant.
* Process patients' change of address in computer data and medical records.
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
Telephone
* Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Cover for appointment line when necessary.
Other Tasks
* Ensure building security by having thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Secure building when on late shift.
About us
Duke Medical Centre has dedicated teams of doctors, nurses, health care assistants, pharmacists, administrators, and receptionists. We are also a training practice and have regular teams of GP Registrars and students training with us.
Most of the patients have been registered for many years, and there are now up to 4 generations of the same families still registered with the practice, who appreciate the good service provided by the practice.

Job Summary:
Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive, professional, and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Job Responsibilities:
Administration

* Work in accordance with written protocols.
* Scanning correspondence into clinical medical records.
* Dealing with prescription requests.

Reception
* Receiving patients and arriving on the computer system for appointments.

Telephone

Other Tasks

Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths is essential or equivalent.
* Experience in a reception and administration role.
Desirable
* Experience working on a clinical reception.
