About the Department:
Critical Care Outreach Teams (CCOT) sit within the ULTH Intensive Care Units of Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Lincoln County Hospital. They are both modern, combined ICU and HDU's and since its inception in 2001, the Critical Care Outreach Teams have evolved in response to the needs of the deteriorating patient, providing a robust 24/7 service.
The Role:
In 2021, ULTH's Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) obtained Advanced Clinical Practitioner status, a role that employs all elements of the HEE Multi-professional Framework and the four pillars of advanced practice. The advertised CCOT trainee ACP posts require individuals who have excelled within their area of practice and who have evidenced recent experience within an acute setting. They must be enthusiastic, degree level registrants with recent extensive experience of managing the care of the deteriorating patient.
We are excited to offer two substantive Critical Care Outreach trainee ACP posts (37.5 hours), working within these experienced teams who are committed to delivering high quality patient care. One position is for Pilgrim Hospital CCOT, the second is for Lincoln Hospital CCOT however there is an expectation to undertake cross site working dependent on the needs of the overall service. Hospital sites within Lincolnshire include Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincoln County Hospital and Grantham and District Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Management of deteriorating patient is a challenging and demanding role. It is an expectation that the appointed individuals will eventually work to an advanced level of clinical practice, exercising autonomy, complex decision making, undertaken with varying levels of risk, all of which hold professional accountability for decisions made.
The ideal candidates must have a passion for the deteriorating patient. With experience of multidisciplinary working and demonstrating excellent communication skills, they will be willing to develop their clinical and professional practice to meet the challenges of this exciting role.
We welcome applications from other Allied Health Professionals however the ability to train as an independent prescriber is an essential attribute. Recent critical care experience / critical care qualification is desirable but not essential.
If employed as a trainee practitioner, there is an expectation that the ACP MSc is undertaken within a full time position to facilitate workplace learning.
If you already hold qualifications and experience as per the Band 8a Job Specification (attached), you will be considered to commence as a AfC Band 8a CCO-ACP subject to portfolio evidence and interview.
