The Role & Team
Fortune is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented fellow to join our newsroom in London for a six-month fellowship starting February 2025. The fellow will gain hands-on experience in editorial duties, research, and project management. They will get the opportunity to produce original work with bylines, distributed to our global audience, preparing them for the next step in their journalism career. Candidates must be authorized to work in the UK and are expected to work from the London office Monday through Thursday, at a minimum.
The role reports directly to the Production Editor in London.
Key responsibilities:
1. Assist journalists and editors with researching, headline writing, and publishing wire and partner content.
2. Report and write original stories, likely a mix of quick hits, in-depth pieces, and/or evergreen articles, blurbs, and profiles.
3. Participate in editorial meetings, contribute ideas, and offer feedback on story pitches.
4. Monitor and add the latest news updates using third-party platforms including Asana and Slack.
5. Assist in curating and producing weekly newsletters/series.
6. Contribute to our flagship lists such as the Fortune 500 Europe.
The ideal candidate has:
1. A passion for digital storytelling and familiarity with UK/European markets.
2. The ability to conduct thorough research using external databases, company reports, and news articles.
3. Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
4. Excellent written English. Additional language ability: French, Spanish, Italian, or German would be desirable.
5. The ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team.
6. Willingness to learn and utilize digital platforms and tools.
Salary:
* Fellows are paid £30,000 pro-rata.
* Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period, plus public holidays.
* This position starts in February and requires that you work full-time for six months.
